Cartwheels of Clarity—Your questions answered!
Answers That Stick the Landing!
We know parents (and gymnasts!) have lots of questions—and we’re here with the answers. From “What should my child wear?” to “How do I sign up for classes?” our FAQ page is designed to make your Balance experience smooth, fun, and stress-free.
🌞 Why should my child do gymnastics?
Gymnastics builds strength, flexibility, and coordination, skills that support a variety of sports and everyday movement. Beyond physical benefits, it:
- Provides a safe, fun, and encouraging environment.
- Teaches commitment, persistence, and safety.
- Builds self-confidence as new skills are mastered.
- Encourages respect, teamwork, and social interaction.
- Develops problem-solving and cognitive skills.
- Inspires a love of fitness and healthy habits.
Gymnastics helps children grow physically, mentally, and socially, setting the foundation for lifelong success.
At what age can my child start gymnastics?
Our youngest little gymnasts start at just 15 months old in our preschool program! From there, we have classes for every age and stage all the way through teens. You can see the exact age requirements for each class when you peek at our online class portal.
What should my child wear to class?
We want kids to feel comfortable, confident, and safe while they move!
• Girls: A leotard or a snug shirt with bike shorts/leggings works best. Please avoid two-piece outfits (like sports bras with spandex shorts), clothing with buttons, snaps, or zippers, and leotards with attached skirts (they can get in the way).
• Boys: A fitted t-shirt and shorts are perfect.
All jewelry should be removed before class to prevent injuries or damage, and hair should always be pulled back so your gymnast can flip, roll, and tumble without distractions.
Do you offer trial classes?
Yes! Every child can try one free trial class in our recreation program to make sure it’s a perfect fit before you commit.
📝 How do I sign up?
So easy—you can enroll right online through our parent portal. You will then receive an automated enrollment email following your child's trial; if for some reason the enrollment link doesn't arrive, give us a call or send us an email.
We are happy to walk you through the process if needed!
Is there a registration fee?
Yes, we have an annual registration fee of $50 per student (capped at $100 per family). This helps cover insurance, equipment upkeep, and safety certifications—so your child always has the best environment to learn.
🎖️ Do you offer a Military or First Responder discount?
Yes! We’re proud to offer 10% off tuition for Active or Retired Military families and First Responders. Just mention it when you sign up.
⬆️ How does my child move up to the next level?
Every child progresses at their own pace, and we celebrate that! Coaches keep a close eye on skill development during class and move kids up when they’re ready.
We also do periodic evaluations using a set of specific, required skills for the level, so you’ll always know when it’s time for your gymnast to take that next exciting step.
You can always view the results of our periodic evaluations under the skills tab on the online portal.
Can my child make up a missed class?
Yes—we get it, life happens! We offer:
• One makeup per month for once-a-week classes
• Two makeups per month for twice-a-week classes
Makeups can be scheduled through the parent portal, or you can give us a quick call/email and we’ll help you out. (Psst…during summer and weather closures, we’re extra flexible!)
⏸️ Can I hold or pause my child’s spot if we need a break?
While we fully understand that life happns and / or students need a break sometimes to reenergize their passion, we will always support requests for a pause. However, because classes fill up quickly, we can’t hold a particular spot open for a student. That being said, you are always welcome to pause your enrollment (drop a class with notice) and then re-enroll whenever you’re ready to come back.
Just note, once you drop a class, we can’t guarantee the exact same class time or coach will be available.
If you do need to drop, we kindly ask for 4 weeks’ notice. You can place a drop notice through the Customer Portal or send us an email.
🔁 What if I want to change my child’s class day or time?
No problem! You can request a switch through the online customer portal or simply reach out to us via phone or email. We’ll let you know when the new spot is confirmed.
👨👩👧 Do you offer family discounts?
Yes! Registration is capped at $100, per family; in addition, each additional student or a second class for a student receives a $5 discount.
Do you offer tumbling classes?
Our Tramp & Tumbling Class is the perfect fit for athletes who want to focus on floor skills without the full commitment of traditional gymnastics. Whether you’re a cheerleader, dancer, or just love to flip, this class will build strength, confidence, and proper technique in a fun, safe environment.
Do you have a competitive team?
Yes, our Competitive Team empowers girls to grow with confidence, resilience, and joy through expert coaching and a deeply supportive environment. Participation is invite-only and we hold tryouts late each spring.
Do you have preschool classes?
Of course! Whether your little one is taking their first steps, tumbling across the living room, or dreaming of future team competition, our preschool programs are built to meet them right where they are—and help them soar. See us for both parent-tot classes or preschool classes.
Do you offer morning classes?
Thanks so much for asking! At the moment, we don’t offer morning classes—but we’re always listening to our families. If there’s enough interest, we’d be happy to explore adding morning options to better support your schedule. Feel free to let us know what days and times would work best for you!
Do coaches offer private lessons?
Absolutely! We do offer private lessons at Balance Gymnastics. These one-on-one sessions are a great way for athletes to focus on specific skills, build confidence, or get extra support outside of regular classes. Whether your child is working toward a particular goal or just thrives with individualized attention, we’re happy to help.
Let us know what skills or areas you'd like to focus on, and we’ll match you with a coach who fits your needs. Scheduling is flexible, and we’ll do our best to find a time that works for your family!
